Sunday Soup

Good Sunday Evening,

Business Before Hours

This Friday morning, March 8th, the HS will be hosting “Business Before Hours” with our Chamber of Commerce.  We will start at 7:30 am.  Please check-in at the HS Cafeteria doors.  We will have a light breakfast/snacks and a brief social before starting the HS tour at 8 am; new Fitness Center, new HS kitchen equipment and setup, CTE wing, HS Bookstore, Drift Inn, etc.  I will be assisting the Chamber admin guide and supervise the tour, along with a few other school admin, and the tour should be complete by 9 am.  This will be a very similar process to the tours that were given during the first semester.

½ day for Students – ½ PD for Teachers in the Afternoon

On Wednesday, we will have a ½  day for students in the morning and PD in the afternoon for teachers.  We will meet in the CIS cafeteria and we will start with a lite lunch, as we have in the past.  Please bring a laptop or Chromebook, if you have one, if not, one will be provided to you at the training.  We are hosting Justin Bruno from Michigan Virtual to share with us how Artificial Intelligence is ALREADY impacting teaching and learning and what the impact is going to look like 2-3 years down the road.

Here is our tentative schedule for Wednesday’s Training:

SiteLogiq Workshopping Continues:

Book Study – “Drive” by Daniel H. Pink:

Great job Team!  I am impressed with everyone’s contribution to our book study this spring.  We are wrapping up Chapter 2 discussion questions and chat group this week.  I will be sending out Chapter 3 DQ’s soon, for those of you ready to start that work.

On Wednesday, after our ½ PD day, we will have a short meeting at the end, 3:00, to quickly meet as a book study group to answer any questions you may have as we are almost halfway through the book study.  We will also need to schedule our first face-to-face meeting when we finish Chapter 3.  Reminder, I will be collecting DQ’s at our first official FTF meeting following Chapter 3.  Please plan on the FTF meetings lasting approximately 1.5 hours.  You must attend both FTF meetings to complete the study in good standing, the meeting after Chapter 3 and the meeting at the conclusion of the book.

Bootcamp Update:

February workouts are complete and now welcome to March!  There is a great sense of accomplishment when you set a personal goal and complete it.  My February goal was to work out and open the Fitness Center to those folks who wanted to join me every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6 am to 7 am.  I accomplished that goal!  Also, an added benefit to accomplishing that goal, I had the opportunity to meet great folks along the way that I may not have met otherwise; students, parents, community members, teachers, etc.  Sometimes the best benefits/consequences from obtaining a personal goal are the “unintended” benefits.

Now, I am empowered and ready to set new goals for March.  For the month of March, I am going to add a third day, Wednesday, to my workout routine, which will align well with my 3-day split workout routine.  Also, as the sun is coming out earlier and staying out later, I am going to challenge myself to do some light cardio, walk/runs, outside to embrace the beautiful spring days coming our way.  The walk/runs will be at least 30 minutes but not more than 45 minutes in March, at least 2 times per week but no more than 3.

I hope your spring health/personal goals are going as well too? Remember, Spring Break starts March 25th and we will be returning from break on Tuesday, April 2nd!  FYI, if you need help writing your personal goals, please feel free to email.  I enjoy using the "SMART” method for goal writing; Specific, Measurable, Attainable/Achievable, Relevant/Realistic, and Time-Based.
