Sunday Souo

Good Sunday Evening,

Teacher Appreciation:

At our last PD meeting, a few of our building principals were able to take a few minutes and recognize some of our outstanding teachers for a variety of reasons.  The beginning of second semester is a good time of the year to create an “Attitude of Gratitude” and remember to thank those people that help us the most.  Teacher/Staff Appreciation Plaques were awarded to:

  • Scott Kelly – High School
  • Dave Schultz – High School
  • Kristy Brach – Middle School
  • Shirley Merchant – Elementary

The Intermediate School and Inverness will also share some more appreciation at our next PD in March.

Learning Opportunity for Aides at COPESD:

There is a training opportunity for CAS Aides at the COPESD on February 22nd.  You will learn the best practices for supporting studentswith different abilities in a sharing and collaborative environment with other Aides to build professional knowledge and to learn how to best support your students.  The training is in-person at the COPESD Main Office from 4:15 to 7:00pm on the 22nd.  Please register through copesd.org.  Food and Materials provided.  For more information call COPESD @ 231-238-9394

Book Study – Drive by Pink:

We have gotten our first staff book study off the ground this week after meeting this past Wednesday after school.  New members should please read Chapter 1 this week and I will be sending our discussion questions via our new email group.  Don’t forget to make a statement on our book study chat room this week.  Please share one or two of the big ideas of the Chapter 1 with the group and everyone should make at lease one response to a statement in hopes of generating a few conversations.  Our first in-person group meeting will be at the conclusion of Chapter 3 where we will review and discuss Chapters 1-3.

Fitness Center Supervisor Hired:

I am happy to report that Adam Blaskowski has been hired to supervise the weight room for those students that would like to use the room after school.  The Fitness Center will be open and supervised from 3:00 to 4:30, Mondaythrough Thursday, and closed on Friday. Remember, if you plan to attend after school you will be under Mr. Blaskowski’s direction.  Anyone that does not follow directions or the rules will have their Fitness Center privilege revoked.  Safety is #1 so following directions and the posted rules is extremely important.

Quote for the Week: “Goals that people set for themselves and that are devoted to attaining mastery are usually healthy.  But goals imposed by others, such as sales targets, quarterly returns, standardized test scores, and so on - - can sometimes have dangerous side effects.” – Daniel H.
