Sunday Soup

Good Sunday Evening,

Congratulations! We have completed semester number one and we are well into the start of semester number two.  During this time, at the District Office level, we like to start thinking about this spring and summer and what type of opportunities we can offer our children to keep them engaged and active this summer.  The summer is an opportunity for student exploration and for students to try something new.  So, please be prepared in future weeks/months to begin to hear about some of our new ideas for summer engagement and exploration.

Book Study Opportunity – Thank you for the emails of interest and it appears we will definitely have enough interest to launch this book study in the spring.  Unfortunately, it also appears that we will have to cap this study at 20, maybe 25, at most.  So, if you are interested and have not applied, please email me directly and soon, first come first serve.  Also, I am planning to have a voluntary short meeting at the conclusion of February 7th PD Day to answer any questions you may have about the study before anyone has to fully commit to the process.  The book will be “Drive” by Pink, which as I mentioned before takes a deep dive into the psychological understanding behind Student Motivation.  We are ordering the books this week.

Fitness Center – Is now complete and ready for use.  As promised, the “Byrd Bootcamp” will start next week.  We will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings throughout the month of February.  I will open the FC doors at 6am and the room will be available from 6:00 to 7:15. And, for those of you who can make it through a month of Byrd Bootcamp in February, you will then earn the right to continue your quest into March.  This is the time to act towards those New Year’s Goals of creating a healthy lifestyle for yourself.  If you are interested, please email me directly so I can put you on our list.  Tuesdays will be “push” days and Thursdays will be “pull” and we will use a light circuit model of training.
